Taohe is 27 wooded acres surrounded by New England forest on a private reservoir in Barre, MA (just west of Worcester,MA). There are 2 cabins, primitive yet cozy with propane for cooking and a hand pump for water. The reservoir is good sized, great for swimming and exploring in the kayak, canoe or raft. We also have various floats, etc. One of my favorites is to swim out to a bouy on an air mattress, wrap the rope around an ankle and drift with the gentle waves, passing clouds, lulled by birdsongs from the forest. You can walk to the man-made, beaver updated (smile) dam that creates the reservoir or, walk the opposite direction and chill out on meditation rock overlooking the water. There is also so much to do there, and yet absolutely nothing to do. I am guessing you know what I mean. Hours can melt away just watching dragonflies or listening to the hermit thrush sing, while drifting on the raft. We meet in Southborough at Sacred Spaces at 9 AM (or in Barre, or along the way...) carpool to the cabins and reservoir which is 30 minutes west of Worcester (details after you register). We open camp, and then it's all about life and nature - swim, hike, boat, sun, chill, explore, nap, etc... until lunch - a healthy home-cooked vegetarian spread!. More adventuring or chilling in the afternoon until we close up camp around 4 or 5 PM. Cost for the day is $80 including your yummy and wholesome vegie lunch.

Every Wednesday evening at 7, silent meditation is followed by a short DVD excerpt from a leading teacher of our time (Eckhart Tolle, Pema Chodron, Adyashanti, Gangaji, etc) with a handout of short quotations. These weekly gatherings keep you centered and serve as a connection with like-minded/hearted friends. Call ahead or simply drop by.
This is a great group of like-minded people that has been meeting for 4 or 5 years now. Using the format recommended by Eckhart, beginning with a short silence, we watch a recent DVD from a retreat or intensive with Eckhart and conclude with a second short period of silence. Then there is tea, snacks and some always relevant conversation as we integrate these ways into daily life. It's always open and you are most welcome to just drop in.
